RS DYNAMICS® Medical Unveiled AirOnics® at the 4th Zurich Exhalomics Forum at EMPA Institute

AirOnics exhaled breath sampling platform

July 8, 2026

RS DYNAMICS® Medical, part of RS DYNAMICS® Group, is proud to announce the introduction of AirOnics®, a next-generation exhaled breath sampling platform designed to address one of the most significant challenges in breath analysis: the reliable collection and preparation of ultra-trace biomarkers from human breath.

AirOnics® represents years of intensive research and engineering aimed at improving every stage of the breath sampling process. Rather than being simply another breath sampler, it introduces an entirely new approach to collecting, enriching, preserving, and preparing breath samples for laboratory analysis.

Transforming Exhaled Breath Sampling

Breath analysis has long been recognized as one of the most promising fields in non-invasive diagnostics, offering enormous potential for the early detection and monitoring of diseases. However, the quality and reproducibility of collected breath samples have remained major barriers to wider adoption in both research and future clinical practice.

AirOnics® has been developed specifically to overcome these limitations.

Its proprietary technology combines exceptionally efficient analyte capture with an ultra-high sample pre-concentration factor of up to 100,000×, enabling the collection of volatile biomarkers and aerosolized particles present at extremely low concentrations from only a few exhalations.

Unlike conventional systems that rely on solid sorbent tubes requiring replacement, conditioning, and thermal desorption, AirOnics® utilizes liquid sorbents. The result is a highly enriched liquid sample that is immediately suitable for storage, transportation, and subsequent laboratory analysis using established analytical techniques such as gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS).

Key Advantages

  • Capture of ultra-trace breath biomarkers with exceptional efficiency
  • Sample preconcentration by up to 100,000×
  • Highly enriched liquid samples ready for laboratory analysis
  • Elimination of disposable solid sorbent cartridges and thermal desorption procedures
  • Simple, reproducible, and standardized sampling workflow
  • Samples suitable for storage and transport prior to analysis
  • Flexible platform compatible with different liquid sorbents depending on the target analytes

A Platform for the Future of Exhaled Breath Diagnostics

By separating sample collection from laboratory analysis, AirOnics® enables breath samples to be collected in virtually any clinical or research environment and analyzed later using centralized laboratory instrumentation. This opens new possibilities for clinical studies, decentralized sample collection, and the broader adoption of breath-based diagnostics.

The platform has been designed to support a wide range of applications, including biomarker discovery, clinical research, disease diagnostics, treatment monitoring, and future point-of-care diagnostic solutions.

First Public Presentation

AirOnics® was presented publicly for the first time at the 4th Zurich Exhalomics Forum at EMPA Institute,  where leading researchers, clinicians, and industry experts gathered to discuss the future of breath analysis and its translation into clinical practice.

The introduction of AirOnics® marks an important milestone for RS DYNAMICS® Medical and reflects the company's long-term commitment to developing innovative analytical technologies that make advanced diagnostics more sensitive, reliable, and accessible.

This is only the beginning of the AirOnics® journey—and we look forward to shaping the future of breath analysis together with the scientific and medical communities.
